01 When will Tour of Kangra 2012 take place?

The ride takes place from the 25^th January 2012 to 29^th of January 2012. 25^th January, 2012 we board the ride bus to Dharamshala from Himachal Bhavan, Near Mandi house, Safdar Hashmi marg, New Delhi at 2030 Hrs. We arrive in Dharamshala on the morning of 26^th January, 2012. This day is reserved for orientations and getting a glimpse into Little Tibet and other attractions around Mc Leodganj. The ride starts on the morning of the 27^th January, 2012.

02 Where is the event?

The Tour of Kangra takes place in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, flanked by the mighty Dhauladhars and one of India’s best winter destinations.

03 Where are the start and finish points?

The race starts from Mc Leodganj, near Dharamshala on the morning of 27^th January and finishes on the 29^th of January in Dharamshala.

04 What is the entry fee?

The entry fees for the ride is INR 7,500/- (Indian Rupees Seven thousand and five hundred).

05 Are there any entry fee waivers?

There is a discount of 25% for Indian students and Himachalis.

06 What is the distance of the ride?

The total distance of the ride is 240 kms in three days, most of which is flat riding at an average altitude of 1200 meters.

07 Is there any cap on the number of riders?

The tour of Kangra will accommodate the first 80 riders to register.

08 How does one register for the race?

1. You send us an email on tourofkangra@gmail.com and we send you the registration form, which you fill and send us back.
2. You visit our blog www.tourofkangra.blogspot.com and fill out the registration form, or download one and send us back on our email.
3. You visit our facebook page www.facebook.com/tourofkangra and after liking the page send us a request there and we email you the form.
4. The website for the ride would be up soon and you may fill out the registration form there, as and when available.

 

 

09 When is my registration confirmed?

 A registration is confirmed only when we receive the entry fee and full documents.

10 How do I send my registration entry fee?

11. What does my entry fee include?

 Your entry fees includes

1. Ride Transport from Delhi to Dharamshala on the 25^th January 2012 and Back to Delhi from Dharamshala on the evening of 29^th January, 2012.
2. Your accommodation – in a Hotel  in Mc Leodganj on 26^th January 2012, Camp on the banks of Pong Dam Reservoir on 27^th January, 2012, Hotel at Bir on 28^th January, 2012.
3.  All food and beverages, including bottled water & excluding alcoholic drinks. The breakfast and dinner are served buffet style which include vegetarian and non vegetarian meals and the lunches are hot lunches dishing out quick meals like Pasta and sandwich on day one, Rice and Rolls on Day two, Chicken legs – Boiled vegetables and Bread on Day three. Lunches are also accompanied by fruits, boiled eggs and potatoes.
4. Ride essentials like, energy drinks (Gatorade or similar), chocolates, Energy bars (Nature valley Granola bars or similar)
5. Medical back up providing first aid and well equipped to take care of emergency required till the hospital.
6. Your race goodie bag consisting of i) The bag, ii) Ride T shirt, iii) A ride Badge iv) Your Bib Number v) A ride mug vi) Helmet

12 What about insurance?

One should have their own insurance cover for the ride. However signing of the indemnity form is mandatory.

13. What happens to my luggage during the ride?

Your luggage goes in the luggage van everyday to the respective race hotel or the camp. It is marked by luggage tags.

 

 

14. What about my Bike Box?

Your bike boxes remain at the start of the ride, i.e the Hotel at Dharamshala. We don’t need to carry them with us during the course of the ride. In case you have a breakdown and need to go back, the total time to get back to the hotel at Dharamshala is within 2 hours.

15. I don’t want to carry my own bike. Do we have the option to rent out bikes from you?

Yes we do have the option of renting bikes, however there is a cap on it. We are renting out Hercules Ryders bikes for the ride. These are 3X7 ratio bikes and are on the heavier side, good for the ride. These are being rented out @ 1500/- for the duration of the ride. We have only 20 bikes available for rent. We still however recommend getting your own bikes for the comfort, familiarity and a great riding experience.

16. How do I transfer my own bike from Delhi?

The ride bus will accommodate upto 20 bikes. This is on first come first serve basis. The rest of the bikes will be transferred in a truck from Delhi to Dharamshala and same when getting back from Dharamshala to delhi.

17. Can I bring my family along?

Yes we welcome your family and friends for the ride, even if they don’t want to ride. Kangra is a great winter destination with many attractions and your family and friends can feast their eyes on the magnificent vistas it has to offer. They would get a dedicated cab (one cab – 4 ppl) and do the whole course of the ride as well, and YES – they would get to see more of places off the ride map as well. The cost for ADULTS accompanying the ride as supporters or tourers is INR 6000/- (Six Thousand) and CHILDREN BETWEEN 8-12 (4000/-). Children below 8 years can accompany free however pay for the bus ticket (INR 2000).

18. Do I get a completion certificate?

Yes you do. You get a completion certificate and a participation certificate.

19. Do I have access to ride pics and videos?

Yes you will get a ride DVD with the videos and Pics. And you can always visit the ride facebook page and the website to keep a tab on these.
